The first incident occurred just after midnight when a 38-year-old man lost control of his vehicle on Barara Flat while heading towards Nadi. Fortunately, two of the passengers are reported to be stable, while the third has already been discharged.

The second accident, which is being treated as a hit-and-run, happened around 3 a.m. on Drasa Avenue. A 26-year-old man was discovered by a passerby and was taken to Lautoka Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. Authorities are actively investigating to identify the vehicle involved in this incident.

In a separate accident occurring this morning in Wailada, Lami, a 22-year-old man sustained serious injuries after crashing his vehicle into a parked truck’s trailer. He was transported to Colonial War Memorial Hospital and remains hospitalized.

SSP Divuana noted that the current road death toll stands at 50, showing a decrease compared to 71 during the same timeframe last year, indicating progress in road safety efforts.

This incident underscores the importance of road safety and awareness. Continuous efforts by law enforcement and community organizations can help reduce these tragic occurrences and make the roads safer for everyone.
