Asma Fareha Khan has transitioned from running a successful online business for two years to opening a retail store, responding to growing client demand. She has launched the Asma Fashion Closet showroom, situated on the main street of Nadi Town.
Originally from Punjab, India, Ms. Khan possesses extensive expertise in fashion, product diversity, and quality standards. She is married to Manuawar Khan, a prominent information technology expert based in Nadi.
“It has been our dream to venture into this business,” she expressed. She explained that the store’s modern design creates a cozy and comfortable shopping atmosphere, with the aim of making customers feel like they are in a personal closet.
The showroom features a range of unique and stylish women’s clothing, footwear, jewelry, luxury clutches, handbags, hijabs, and accessories, all imported to cater to diverse tastes.
Mr. Khan recognizes strong potential for retail sales of contemporary Indian ethnic and Indo-western attire and accessories in Fiji. “The market is very competitive in Fiji, but our focus will always be to introduce quality and unique items that are not commonly available,” he noted.
Currently, they source products from overseas as there are no manufacturing facilities in Fiji, although some items are customized for a distinct market presence.
They have invested nearly $60,000 to establish and stock their showroom, which currently employs two staff members. Furthermore, they plan to expand their business by opening additional showrooms in the western division.
