Significant progress has been achieved by the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC), which has launched an initiative to provide sporting equipment and Wheelie bins to several schools in Suva. This generous donation program, which commenced on Wednesday, has targeted a total of 18 schools and is set to conclude today.
The collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports has played a crucial role in the successful execution and impact of this initiative. On Thursday, the Fiji Times team visited Marist Brothers Primary School, one of the beneficiaries of FASANOC’s contributions.
Michael Kumar, the Head of School, expressed profound gratitude for the support received, emphasizing the vital role that holistic education and sports play in the school’s development framework. The donations, which include essential sports equipment, library books, and Wheelie bins, are anticipated to significantly enhance the educational resources available to the students.
“We are really appreciative of the donations from FASANOC,” Kumar stated. He highlighted that Marist Brothers Primary School emphasizes holistic education, integrating sports as a critical component of child development. He noted the importance of the donations in fostering reading habits among students while also improving the school’s infrastructure with the Wheelie bins.
Kumar also referenced the school’s history and strong ties with former students, many of whom continue to engage with the institution, further enriching the school community. “We are very thankful to receive sporting equipment along with library books that aid in improving the literacy of our children, and the donation of the Wheelie bins is invaluable,” he added. His remarks underscore how such initiatives can enhance the learning environment and support the educational journey of students.
Yesterday, representatives from FASANOC visited six selected schools to wrap up the donation program, marking a successful effort to fortify educational resources in Suva. The initiative not only underscores FASANOC’s commitment to sports but also highlights the significance of community support in fostering educational development.
