After an impressive 36 years of dedicated service, Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew is set to retire this May. Mr. Chew, who has led the police force since the Coalition Government took office two years ago, has been commended for his strong principles and ethical leadership.

In a heartfelt address to the media on his last day in uniform, he reflected on the challenges faced by the organization and acknowledged the learning and adjustments made during his tenure. “We’ve been highlighting [the challenges] in the media. What we have done, we learn from them, adjusted ourselves and moved forward for the betterment of the organization and the people of Fiji that we serve,” he stated.

Mr. Chew expressed his relief in passing the leadership baton to a fellow police officer, confident that the organization will continue to progress in serving the community. Officially starting his leave today, he expressed gratitude for the support he received throughout his career while maintaining his composure during his final address.

As he prepares for retirement, Mr. Chew offered advice to young police constables: “Never give up. Continue to do what is right, follow the system and the processes that are there, do what is legal at all times – you will never go wrong.” His commitment to guiding the next generation of officers underscores his legacy and dedication to law enforcement in Fiji.

This transition marks not just the end of Mr. Chew’s tenure, but also a new chapter for the Fiji Police Force, one that he hopes will be filled with integrity and service.

In summary, Juki Fong Chew retires after a noteworthy career marked by challenges and service to the community, leaving behind a message of perseverance and integrity for future officers.
