Twelve long days have passed since 29-year-old Arvin Chand mysteriously disappeared, plunging his family into deep sorrow and uncertainty. What should have been a festive Diwali celebration turned into a harrowing ordeal for his loved ones.
On November 2, Arvin, a bus driver by trade, ventured out to drive a taxi for a friend. That morning, he informed his mother that he was heading to work, but he did not say goodbye, marking the last moment his family saw him.
Days later, on November 4, Arvin’s abandoned taxi was discovered near the Suva Flea Market at around 3 p.m. The vehicle’s doors were left open, and the keys were sitting on the seat, yet there was no sign of Arvin.
The police have initiated an investigation, yet no substantial leads have emerged, leaving the family in a state of painful uncertainty. Satya Chand, Arvin’s father, expressed his heartache, stating, “I haven’t slept properly for days. My wife and I pray every moment, hoping for a miracle, praying that our son walks back through that door safe and sound.” The emotional weight of not knowing where Arvin is feels like an unbearable void for the family.
They have thoroughly searched familiar areas and reached out to relatives and friends, but each passing day only amplifies their distress. Despite the grim situation, the Chand family clings to their faith and maintains hope that Arvin will return safely. He was last seen wearing a blue dotted shirt, black jeans, and black safety boots, and resides with his parents on Farm Road in Nausori.
A missing person’s report has been filed with the Nakasi Police Station, and the Fiji Police Force has committed to pursuing the investigation diligently. In a heartfelt appeal, Mr. Chand urged anyone with information to assist in the search: “Please, if anyone knows anything, help us find our son.”
In moments like these, community support can be invaluable. The search for Arvin Chand continues, and community members are encouraged to stay vigilant and help his family find closure.
As this story unfolds, we hold onto the hope that Arvin will soon be reunited with his family.
