A family is anxiously awaiting DNA test results for the body of Vikash Vinay Raj, who was found dead in what is believed to be a drowning incident. The disturbing discovery was made on January 1, following Raj’s swimming outing on December 13 last year. His sister, Pooja Raj, has expressed frustration over the prolonged process, noting that their request for DNA testing was submitted to the police over eight weeks ago.
Despite being informed that the samples had been sent to Australia and results were expected in about four weeks, there has been little communication from the authorities since then. Pooja Raj has mentioned that they have visited the police station weekly in hopes of receiving an update and even reached out to the Office of the Prime Minister, but to no avail.
The situation has escalated their anxiety as they are eager to perform the final rites for Raj, which can only be done once there is confirmation that the body is indeed his. Pooja described the struggle of continuously pressing for information and the unfortunate delays caused by recent power outages impacting police communication.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro has stated that the Director of Forensics has maintained contact with Raj’s family regarding the case’s progress. This highlights the challenges families face in similar situations, where the wait for answers can be excruciating.
