The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has issued a crucial warning urging the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any individuals posing as LTA officers while attempting to solicit payments for services or favors. This alert follows a disturbing social media report from a woman who recounted an encounter with a person alleging to be an LTA officer, who offered to facilitate a permit and driver’s license in exchange for money.
In response to these incidents, LTA Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa emphasized the seriousness of such fraudulent activities. He reiterated that all services provided by the LTA must be accessed exclusively through official channels to ensure the safety and integrity of public dealings. According to Rokosawa, all payments should only be made through authorized LTA systems, as any transactions conducted outside of LTA offices are deemed illegal. He further warned that the LTA cannot be held accountable for any financial losses stemming from unauthorized dealings.
Additionally, the CEO urged the public to report any suspicious approaches from impostors directly to the Fiji Police Force Cyber Crime Unit. He encouraged individuals seeking reliable information to visit their nearest LTA office or use official communication platforms provided by the LTA.
The LTA is actively collaborating with relevant authorities to safeguard the integrity of its services and to prevent the public from falling victim to scams and deception. This proactive approach aims to reassure the community that the LTA takes such matters seriously and is committed to maintaining trust in its operations.
