The Ministry of Education is warning the public about a fraudulent announcement circulating online from a fake website impersonating the “Fiji Ministry of Education.”
This false statement incorrectly claims that all schools in Fiji will be closed from Wednesday, September 18, to Monday, October 6, 2024, due to a supposed outbreak of monkeypox, citing 35 new cases.
The Ministry has clarified that this information is entirely untrue, and there has been no declaration of any school closures.
All schools continue to operate normally, and there are no plans for closures.
The Ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services and confirms that there are no reported cases of monkeypox in Fiji. Additionally, no directives for school closures or curfews have been issued by the Ministry of Health.
