A fraudulent notice claiming a work stoppage for all civil servants has been circulating on social media, but the government has swiftly refuted its authenticity. The Ministry of Civil Service has labeled the graphic disseminating the message of a day off as false, asserting that it is intentional disinformation aimed at misleading the public and disrupting official communications.
The Ministry has reiterated that all civil servants are expected to return to work today, with specific operational arrangements announced. In the Western Division, only essential services will continue, while civil servants in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Divisions are required to report for duty as usual. Permanent Secretaries have been instructed to ensure that staff are made aware of this directive, and to guarantee that essential services across the Western Division operate without interruption.
In another development, schools nationwide are closed today due to adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and flooding. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro stated that the closure was determined in collaboration with the National Disaster Risk Management Office, following assessments from District Education Offices.
The clarity provided by the Ministry regarding civil service operations highlights the importance of relying on official channels for information, especially in times of uncertainty. Schools’ closures, although unfortunate, ensure the safety of students and staff amid harsh weather, demonstrating a proactive stance on disaster management.
