FAITH Brothers may be new to the Fiji Bitter 7s Series, but their mission extends beyond mere victories on the field. As they make their debut in the national sevens circuit, the team kicked off their journey at the Fiji Bitter Labasa 7s, a moment that senior player Papi Tanoa describes as a significant achievement.

Eager to challenge themselves and embrace the spirit of competition, Faith Brothers stands out because all its members work at the Sofitel Resort. The long hours spent in the tourism industry inspired these colleagues to band together to form a rugby team. Tanoa shared that the concept developed organically among the workmates, united by their passion for rugby and a shared belief that strengthened their bond.

“We thought of forming our team and naming it Faith Brothers. It’s our faith that kept us together and we must always remain happy,” Tanoa expressed.

The formation of the team is also rooted in prioritizing health and well-being. Tanoa explained that rugby serves not just as a sport, but as a means to maintain fitness and health, especially in an industry where lifestyle-related health issues are prevalent. “One of the reasons we formed the team is to keep ourselves fit, particularly working in tourism, and to avoid non-communicable diseases,” he noted.

In their opening match of the tournament, the western-based team secured a noteworthy victory, defeating Bainivualiku with a score of 10-0. This victory marks a promising start for Faith Brothers, as they aim to combine their passion for rugby with their commitment to health and camaraderie.
