The Fiji Police Force gathered today at the Suva Civic Center for a dedication service in anticipation of the 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the festive season operations. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew highlighted the significance of the church service as a moment for the police family to unite and seek divine support for the important events approaching in the coming weeks.
He described this gathering as essential preparation, akin to soldiers synchronizing before a mission, emphasizing the importance of being on the same wavelength for a successful outcome. While aiming for victory in the Ratu Sukuna Tournament, he stressed that the priority should also be the safety and well-being of the community during the festive period.
In his remarks, the Acting Commissioner extended best wishes to all teams and expressed gratitude for the support of families who endure sacrifices for their loved ones in the force. Additionally, the Fiji Police Force recognized the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for their continued assistance with the #88blues campaign, providing logistical support for the event.
Senior representatives from AFP, Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham, attended the service, where they witnessed the blessing of sporting kits for all teams by the Force Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi.
The 2024 Ratu Sukuna tournament is set to kick off on Tuesday with the boxing competition, followed by the highly anticipated main rugby match between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
This event promises to foster unity and teamwork within law enforcement, while also highlighting their commitment to community safety during the festive season. As the tournament approaches, the hope is not only for athletic victories but also for continued collaboration and support among the police force and their community, making this a season of celebration and safety.
