Extra Supermarket has officially become the sponsor of the Fiji Football Association (FFA) for the 2025 season. The agreement was finalized this morning at the Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva, marking a pivotal moment for the supermarket chain’s involvement in supporting local football.

The sponsorship encompasses several leagues, including the Extra Premier League, Senior League, Under-19 Boys Youth League, U-16 Boys Youth League, Futsal League, Futsal IDC, and the national futsal team, indicating a broad commitment to enhancing the football landscape in Fiji.

Lailanie Burnes, the Chief Marketing Officer of Extra Supermarket, expressed pride in furthering their alliance with Fiji FA. She emphasized the partnership’s potential to elevate the standards of local football and foster a deeper community connection through the sport.

Rajesh Patel, President of Fiji FA, referred to the collaboration as a “family affair,” underscoring the importance of communal support in promoting sporting excellence.

The financial details of the sponsorship have not been disclosed, but this partnership signifies a hopeful investment in the future of Fijian football, promising to uplift local talent and create more engaging opportunities for fans and players alike.

This initiative aligns with the supermarket’s previously successful collaborations, such as their recent sponsorship of the 2024 Extra Supermarket Central Community Games, which aims to celebrate local talent across multiple sports. By consistently engaging with the local sports community, Extra Supermarket is creating a positive ripple effect that can inspire young athletes and bring the community closer together through shared sporting experiences.
