Extra Supermarket Rewa football team plans to leverage team chemistry as their winning strategy against Flick Hygiene Lautoka in the Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream Battle of the Giants (BOG) semi-final at HFC Bank Stadium this Saturday at 2pm.
“Preparation has been going well as we had favorable weather for training and the team bonding has been great,” said team manager Peter Singh.
“The players had a good training session and recovery this week for the semi-finals.”
Singh noted that it was a positive sign that the players were fit and injury-free after their pool games.
“We should be able to score goals as long as the players are focused in the semi-final,” he said.
“We are able to manage our defense and score goals. Our Solomon import has worked well for us; I think he’s the highest goal scorer in the tournament.”
Singh said the team would gain momentum with the support of their fans.
“We urge our fans to come in and cheer for our team as the game will be fast-paced and an entertaining semi-final,” he said.
“We respect Lautoka as they are a good team that will put up a fight.”
Singh added that they are trying to balance the chemistry between the experienced and young players.
“The players are eager to taste victory in the BOG tournament as it has been some time since we won the Fiji Fact and BOG trophy,” he said.
The second semi-final at 4.30pm will feature hosts Suva against Nadi.
