Extra Supermarket has officially announced its sponsorship of the 2024 Fiji Architects’ Association (FAA) awards, an event set to take place this evening at the Fiji Museum. The news was shared by Leilani Burns, the sales and marketing manager of Extra Supermarket, during a press briefing at the FAA head office.
Burns expressed the significance of the event, highlighting how it celebrates the creativity, vision, and commitment of Fiji’s architects, who play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s architectural landscape. “Supporting this event is our way of contributing to the progress and development of our country,” she stated.
FAA general secretary Setoki Tuiteci voiced gratitude for Extra Supermarket’s continued partnership, noting that the supermarket had helped revitalize the FAA during a period of inactivity. He emphasized the organization’s excitement about collaborating with Extra again for this year’s awards and looking forward to future endeavors together.
The award ceremony tonight will consist of five judges, three of whom are traveling from abroad. Tuiteci mentioned that the judges are in the process of finalizing the award winners. While ticket sales have been brisk, he assured attendees that any remaining tickets would be available at the door for those wishing to attend.
This sponsorship not only showcases the commitment of local businesses like Extra Supermarket in supporting significant cultural and professional events but also highlights the importance of recognizing the contributions of architects in national development. It is a promising sign of collaboration that can inspire further growth and creativity in Fiji’s built environment.
In a hopeful note, the continued support for the FAA by organizations like Extra Supermarket could lead to a stronger architectural community in Fiji, paving the way for innovative designs and sustainable development that will benefit future generations.
