The position of Police Commissioner is currently filled, according to Attorney-General Graham Leung. He stated that only a Tribunal finding of misbehavior could lead to a vacancy in the post.
“Unless and until that happens, the post cannot be advertised,” noted Mr. Leung following the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) meeting in Suva yesterday.
COC chairperson and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka mentioned that the issue was not discussed during the meeting and would be addressed at a later date.
As a result, acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew will remain in his position until the COC deliberates on the matter.
