Exclusive: Pacific Specialist Healthcare Plans Groundbreaking Initiative – Click to Find Out!

Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) is planning to establish a DNA library to store samples for future use. This was announced by PSH director and chief executive officer, Parvish Kumar, during the fifth MultiDisciplinary (Pacific) Conference held at the Crowne Plaza Fiji, Nadi Bay Resort & Spa in Nadi.

“We are planning to set up a DNA library. Our aim is to collect samples from newborns’ umbilical cords, with parental consent, and store them in the lab,” said Mr. Kumar. “In the future, if parents or anyone need samples of the child’s DNA, it will be available in Fiji,” he added.

Mr. Kumar also mentioned that in the next two to three weeks, PSH will begin open-heart surgical procedures. “Currently, our entire open heart surgical team is already in Fiji. They have been performing revital exercises and testing all systems. We plan to start open heart surgeries around August 2-13,” he said.

He emphasized that once these services are available in Fiji, Pacific islanders will no longer need to seek medical care elsewhere, even in the event of another pandemic and border lockdowns.

Located in Legalega opposite Nadi International Airport, Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) is the largest private hospital in the South Pacific.
