“Exclusive: Boxing Ring Makes Rare Journey to Labasa for Exciting August Event!”

The South Pacific Boxing Promotions will be transporting the boxing ring to Labasa for the event scheduled on August 10 at Subrail Park. Promoter Fred Chand confirmed yesterday that preparations are on track.

“There is no ring in Labasa and this is the first event there after nine years,” Chand stated. “So far, we’re 99 percent on schedule. The Vanuatu boxers are arriving next Wednesday and will catch their connecting flight to Labasa.”

The main bout will feature Fiji’s super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific champion Winston Hill facing Roy ‘Tsunami’ Ser of Port Vila, Vanuatu. Ser, trained in China, won the gold medal for Vanuatu at the Pacific Mini Games and has a knockout victory over top Fiji welterweight contender Rakuro Dauvavana.

Former Fiji middleweight champion Nat Ledua mentioned in an earlier interview that the people in Vanua Levu are excited to see Hill in action.

Another highlight of the event is the Fiji lightweight title fight between the stylish Ubayd Haider (formerly Nathan Singh) and the hard-hitting Saimoni Ratu of Naitasiri. Haider, also the country’s super featherweight champion, has recorded two wins in Australia.

“The tickets will go on sale next week,” Chand added, mentioning that they are finalizing the remaining details.
