World Rugby has announced the initial five locations and dates for the HSBC SVNS 2025 series. The series will take place in Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, and Hong Kong, with additional locations to be announced soon.
The tournament will commence at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai from November 30 to December 1, 2024. Following this, the action will move to Cape Town’s DHL Stadium for the second round on December 7-8. Perth will host the third round at HBF Park from January 24-26, 2025, after a successful season this year. Vancouver will take its turn for the fourth round at BC Place from February 21-23, and the highly anticipated Hong Kong 7s will take place from March 28-30.
Further details regarding the remaining events for 2025, including the grand final, will be revealed at a later date. The HSBC SVNS is committed to promoting gender equality by featuring both men’s and women’s events in all rounds, ensuring equal opportunities for female players to display their skills on prominent platforms worldwide. Both men’s and women’s teams will also receive equal participation fees.
Additionally, the series will welcome three new teams: Kenya and Uruguay will represent the men’s category, while China will join the women’s teams after their successful campaigns at the 2024 promotion and relegation play-off in Madrid.
The women’s teams participating will include New Zealand, Australia, France, the USA, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Great Britain, Japan, Brazil, Spain, and China. The men’s lineup will comprise Argentina, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, France, Fiji, South Africa, Great Britain, the USA, Spain, Uruguay, and Kenya.
