“Exciting Times Ahead: Fijiana 7s Ready for Olympic Challenge”

Fijiana Women’s 7s coach Saiasi Fuli places the utmost priority on player safety as the team gears up for the Olympics.

Staying back in Fiji to focus on training has proven beneficial, with the past two weeks being the most productive in their preparation.

The team has excelled during training sessions, and all players are injury-free.

“The past two weeks have been the best for our preparation. The team is doing well in training, and the good news is that everyone is injury-free and ready to travel,” said Fuli.

Fuli clarified that the decision to train separately was due to the unstable situation in France.

“We stayed back in Fiji due to political tension in France. Safety is our main priority. People might wonder why the men’s team is in France while we’re in Fiji, but it’s all because of the situation there. Training here has helped us come together and get ready for the Olympics. The girls have really stepped up and worked hard to prepare for the games. We’re excited to represent our country and leave for France on Monday.”

As they prepare to depart for France, the team is looking forward to facing tough opponents in their pool.

“When it comes to the Olympics, the girls choose themselves through their hard work and individual performances. We have seven days to fine-tune our rugby skills and strategies before facing teams like Canada, China, and New Zealand.”

“To all our amazing fans in Fiji, we ask for your blessings and prayers as we take on this competition. Your support means everything to us, and we’re grateful for it.”

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will first face Canada on the 29th of this month at 3:30 am at Stade de France. They will then play against China later at 7 am on the same day, before meeting New Zealand at 2:30 am on the 30th.

The team will depart for France on Monday.
