Exciting Expansion for Suva Zone Two: More Schools Set to Join Athletics Competition!

More schools along the Navua and Sigatoka corridor are anticipated to participate in the upcoming Suva Zone Two athletics competition next month. Dan Vakamocea, the Zone Two president, has confirmed plans to include additional schools, aiming to enhance the competitive atmosphere. Currently, Zone Two has 14 schools, a notable disparity compared to Suva Zone One, which boasts over 20 participating institutions.

The inclusion of more schools will significantly bolster the quality of competition, as schools like Marist Brothers High School and Suva Grammar School have a history of excelling in their respective zones. Vakamocea is particularly optimistic about potentially inviting schools such as Namosi Secondary School and others from the Coral Coast area, stating, “It is better to have all those schools from the Coral Coast side coming over to join Suva Zone Two.”

The Suva Zone Two athletics event is scheduled to take place at the HFC Bank Stadium on March 18th and 19th. This initiative not only promotes athleticism but also serves to foster community engagement and pride in local schools’ sporting achievements. The anticipated increased participation is expected to inspire young athletes and enhance their skills through more rigorous competition.

This mirrors recent trends in athletics, as seen in the Suva 1 district, which also reported a rise in participants. The injection of new schools into competitions reflects a growing interest and commitment to athletics, promising a vibrant and competitive environment for all involved. The upcoming Suva Zone Two competition aims to showcase the talent and dedication of young athletes while encouraging practices that support inclusivity and community spirit.
