Boxers from Vanuatu, Roy Ser and Wasing Warawara, are set to arrive in the country next Wednesday. Promoter Fred Chand of South Pacific Boxing Promotions announced that the boxers will catch a connecting flight to Labasa for the promotion event scheduled for next Saturday, August 10.
“The boxers wanted to get to Labasa quickly to acclimatize to the weather conditions,” Chand explained.
In the main event, Ser will face Fiji’s super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific titleholder Winston Hill. The 10-round bout promises to be thrilling, as both fighters boast extensive amateur boxing backgrounds before turning professional.
Hill earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, while Ser won a gold medal at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila and has also trained in China. Ser has notable victories, including knocking out Rakuro Dauvavana in the second round and Saimoni Ratu.
In the supporting bout, Warawara will take on Frederick Chand of Nadi’s Seaside Boxing Club. The official weigh-in for the promotion is scheduled for next Friday in Labasa.
