This week, the 49th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s is set to kick off with match officials from Samoa and New Zealand officiating the games. This initiative is part of a collaboration between the Suva Rugby Union and the Marist 7s investment for this year, highlighting the tournament’s commitment to bringing in expertise and quality officiating.

For the first time, the names of referees and match officials will be announced before each game, providing transparency and enhancing the overall experience for teams and spectators.

The tournament will begin on Thursday at 7 AM with the Under 18 competition, followed by an exciting women’s final on Friday, a change from the traditional Saturday scheduling to give the women’s division a central stage.

Fans can catch all the action live via pay-per-view on Viti+ for $69 FJD over the three days, or purchase grandstand tickets for $22. The event promises thrilling matches, showcasing talent across multiple age groups and divisions.

Previously, the Marist 7s has been recognized for its high level of competition, having attracted significant numbers of teams and offering the highest bonus points within the Fiji Bitter 7s series. This year, it is expected to feature over 95 teams, underscoring the ongoing development and enthusiasm for rugby in Fiji.
