This week, the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament in Suva will see 20 out of the 64 men’s teams that competed in the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s continue their journey. Among the various teams participating, prominent contenders like Viti Roofing Devo Babas, BLK Lavidi Brothers, Wardens Gold, and Police Blue are expected to showcase their skills, having performed well in the recent series standings.
The Marist 7s will include new participants such as Bula Bay Blue, DXC Army Green, and Mana Magicians. A significant development in this year’s tournament is the introduction of the Pacific Energy Future Super Stars under-18 Boys competition, along with a Future Super Stars U18 Girls category, expanding opportunities for young talent in the sport.
Taking place from Thursday to Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium, the Marist 7s represents the final leg of the Fiji Bitter 7s series. The Viti Roofing Devo Babas will enter this tournament with momentum, having recently secured the men’s cup title at the Nawaka 7s, which comes with a $10,000 prize, showcasing their excellent form. Last year’s champion, Army Green, is eager to defend their title after a commanding win over DXC Barbarians in the main Cup final.
