The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s, marking the culmination of the Fiji Bitter 7s series, was officially launched in Suva at the Paradise Beverages Fiji Limited headquarters. Esteemed tournament officials, including Fiji Bitter events specialist Alfaio Tekavei, Marist Rugby Club President Lawrence Tikaram, and tournament coordinator Kolinio Korovulavula, convened to commemorate the event.
Tekavei encouraged teams to engage in this year’s tournament, now entering its 49th year, highlighting the opportunity for the local community to experience thrilling rugby action right in their own region. The launch also served to update attendees on the progress of the Fiji Bitter 7s series, which started in Kadavu last October and included another event in Wairiki in December.
Current standings reveal that the BLK Lavidi Brothers lead the men’s division with 674.891 points, followed by the Devo Babas at 562.871 points and Police Blue at 553.286 points. In the women’s category, the Wardens are in first place with 96.460 points, the Blue Gas Lilian Amazons in second with 83.695 points, and Tagimoucia in third with 69.255 points.
Additionally, launches for the upcoming Nahehevia and Nawaka legs of the series are anticipated in the near future.
