Excitement and Upsets: Day 3 Highlights from Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s Carnival

The third day of the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s Carnival held at the Wairiki Parish Grounds in Taveuni featured a mix of outcomes as teams competed fiercely in the elimination rounds, starting with the under 18-21 matches at 1:30 PM.

In the U18-21 elimination matches, the results showcased some dominant performances. Aloha Taveuni triumphed over Naveibasaga with a score of 31-0, while Breakthrough Brothers faltered against Waitabu, who won 26-0. Other notable matches included Village Boys Black narrowly edging out Nabau Brothers 12-10 and St Teresa Naba defeating Sausauvou Taveuni 14-12 in a closely contested game. Aquapro Savuiqali and Dominion Brothers ended in a dramatic 14-14 tie. TEMC Birdland Kadavu displayed strength with a 17-0 victory against Nasolo.

In the men’s category, Police Blue showcased their prowess with a resounding 33-0 win over Fiji Pine Brothers. Other results included the Wairiki Old Boys defeating Ucunivatu Rugby 19-14, and BLK Lavidi securing a 17-0 victory against Nasolo. The Somosomo Sharks faced a challenging match against WT Tribals, losing 17-7.

In subsequent matches, Raiwasa Taveuni defeated Viwa Rugby 12-0, and Bula Brothers managed to beat Kingston Waidigi 19-14. VDM Black Heron struggled against TEMC Island Warriors, enduring a 17-0 loss, while Vacalea Kadavu faced a tough match against Y-is Vacalea Kadavu, ultimately falling 7-0.

For the U18-21 matches, Nasolo edged out Southern Babas 7-0, and Fiji Pine Brothers claimed victory against Dama with a score of 7-0. In women’s competition, Tagimoucia Ranadi overpowered Ucunivatu Women’s Rugby 41-0, and Lilian Amazon defeated Naselesele 26-7.
