Business prospects are looking up for a sub-clan in Nadi following government assistance. Recently, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for External Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, presented a new excavator to Tokatoka Namara Development Pte Ltd. This gesture represents a significant advancement in promoting rural entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
The new excavator is expected to alleviate the financial pressures on the company while boosting its productivity. Tokatoka Namara has ventured into gravel extraction, leveraging local resources to establish a sustainable business that benefits the members of Sikituru Village.
Kamikamica reaffirmed the government’s dedication to providing equal opportunities for traditional landowners and commended the local community for successfully building their business. He stated, “This investment of $78,666.67, made possible through the Integrated Human Resource Development Programme, highlights our faith in the capacity of rural enterprises to stimulate economic growth.”
He also recognized the obstacles faced by micro and small businesses in securing financing and reiterated the government’s commitment to exploring innovative financing methods, including small loans and crowdfunding.
The introduction of the excavator is anticipated to significantly improve operations, enhance production, and increase efficiency, leading to greater local economic benefits. Kamikamica expressed, “This event showcases the resilience and creativity of our rural population. Together, we recommit ourselves to promoting rural entrepreneurship and creating a brighter future for all Fijians.”
Vilikisa Sayabo, a director at the company, expressed gratitude to the government for their support. He explained, “We started our business two years ago. With gravel extraction, we acquired a truck but continued to rent an excavator. This year, through government collaboration, we applied for this machine. The excavator will simplify our work and double our production, increasing our revenue.”
