The husband of a member of the Grace Road Church (GRC), who recently left the organization, has disputed his wife’s accusations of family mistreatment by the church. Speaking to The Fiji Times, he indicated that the situation is a personal matter between him and his wife, rather than a reflection on GRC as a whole.

His wife, who chooses to remain anonymous, claimed she fled from True Mart shopping center in Navua after nearly eight years with the church. She expressed her desire to provide a better life and more opportunities for their two children, aged 13 and four, outside the church environment.

In response to his wife’s allegations regarding family separation, he argued that such separation is a natural aspect of life and not specific to their situation. He mentioned that the organization is focused on growth and unity within the community, which requires hard work and, at times, temporary separations. He emphasized that their children are content and are engaged in various activities, including sports and education, showcasing their well-being.

He also expressed hope that his wife might reconsider her decision and return to the family. Meanwhile, the GRC has chosen not to comment on the dispute, directing inquiries to the husband instead.

This situation highlights the complexities and challenges many families face when involved in tight-knit organizations. It’s a reminder of the importance of open communication and mutual support in resolving personal conflicts, particularly when children are involved. Ultimately, it’s hopeful to see a willingness for reconciliation from the husband, indicating a desire to maintain family unity amidst these difficulties.
