The anticipated boxing match between Ubayd Haider and Mikaele Ravalaca is set for February 22, 2025. This information comes from Haider’s manager, Alan Kumar, who is currently negotiations with Ravalaca’s Australia-based manager, Gus Wahab. Kumar is reviving the Bula Boxing Promotions, with the opening event scheduled for the same date.
Kumar stated, “After receiving confirmation from the Boxing Commission of Fiji for February 22, 2025, I reached out to Mikaele Ravalaca’s manager, Gus Wahab. He is a very good gentleman, and we had a productive conversation about making this fight happen for the public.”
Both parties are eager for the match, although negotiations regarding the purse are still ongoing. Kumar mentioned, “There is a positive sign, and we are just discussing the purse. We offered them around $5,000, which he is not agreeing to. We expect to reach an agreement by the end of Friday and hopefully sign the contract next week.”
As an events manager with Bula Events Group and the promoter of Bula Boxing, Kumar emphasized that the fight will only take place under his promotion. “Only I can make this fight happen because I manage Ubayd Haider, and he will adhere to my decisions. We are not avoiding anyone; we have scheduled fights for this year. We want this bout to be available for the public to see. We apologize for the wait, but we have upcoming fights lined up. Haider will compete for an IBO title on October 26 in Nadi against an Australian opponent, which is very important for us. We are taking it step by step and looking forward to February 22,” he expressed.
The fight is set to take place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
