Epeli Leiroti Shines Bright at Battle of the Giants!

Lautoka player Epeli Leiroti received top honors at the conclusion of the 2024 Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice-Cream Battle of the Giants in Suva. The 29-year-old national representative was awarded the Golden Ball for his exceptional contribution to Lautoka’s success during the five-day tournament.

Leiroti began the tournament as a defender but transitioned to midfield during the semifinal and final matches to compensate for Sitiveni Cavuilagi, who was suspended after receiving a red card in Lautoka’s last group match against Navua. The former player for Nadroga, Suva, and Fiji U23 has proven himself as a key player both in defense and in midfield.

Coach Shivam Raj praised Leiroti’s leadership and commitment, stating, “He is a good leader and motivator in the team. His work rate is amazing. He gives his best for the district every time he takes the field, and we are honored to have a player like Epeli.” Raj also noted how Leiroti effectively mentors younger players and helps maintain composure on the field, alongside other strong contributors to the team’s success this season.

Leiroti was awarded a trophy and a $1000 shopping voucher from Extra Supermarket and Mirchi FM.
