Enrique Stays Positive Amid PSG’s Dips: What Lies Ahead?

Luis Enrique, the manager of Paris St Germain, remains optimistic despite the team’s recent dip in form following the international break. He commended his squad for successfully navigating challenging matches.

PSG started their Ligue 1 season impressively, scoring 13 goals in their first three games. However, their performance has since tapered off, marked by a narrow 1-0 victory over Girona in the Champions League and a 1-1 draw against Reims in their latest league outing.

When questioned about a possible decline in performance after the international break, Enrique expressed a different viewpoint. He noted, “I feel things differently. Throughout a season, there are ups and downs; it’s a natural part of a team’s growth.” Ahead of their home fixture against Stade Rennais on Friday, he emphasized that the team has managed to address the challenges posed by their opponents.

Enrique anticipates a challenging match against Rennes, who have secured two victories in their last four league encounters against PSG. He acknowledged, “They’re a team that competes near the top of the table and have given us trouble in the past. They’re capable of taking points from us, and they adjust their strategy as the game progresses.”

He added, “No game is easy; challenges will arise, but I remain optimistic about matches like this, especially playing at the Parc, which energizes us.”

Rennes are known for their high pressing, but Enrique does not expect them to employ that strategy in the upcoming match, given their adaptability. He remarked, “It is complicated to break through a low block, so my responsibility is to adapt and find solutions.”

Currently, PSG leads the Ligue 1 standings with 13 points after five games, ahead of Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco on goal difference. Following the match against Rennes, PSG will face Arsenal in a Champions League encounter.
