Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka welcomed a courtesy call from Tuvalu’s Prime Minister, Feleti Teo. This marked their first meeting since Teo’s appointment earlier this year. Rabuka reiterated Fiji’s support for Tuvalu’s ambition to create a community facility for the Tuvaluan diaspora in Fiji.

Both leaders recognized the deep historical bonds between Fiji and Tuvalu. Teo highlighted the economic connections and the significant contributions of the Fijian diaspora working in Tuvalu in various roles such as teachers, nurses, and doctors.

They also acknowledged the expanding bilateral relations and discussed cooperation in key sectors including education, health, agriculture, climate resilience, and connectivity.

The leaders reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening the relationship through a potential framework agreement encompassing all areas of cooperation. Teo’s visit to Fiji underscores the mutual commitment to address both current and emerging issues through enhanced collaboration.
