Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) will begin rotating power across the Central Division from today as repair crews work to restore a major transmission line, the utility announced. The temporary load-sharing arrangement will see electricity supplied in turn to four blocks, giving customers in affected areas limited access to power during the day while full restoration remains incomplete.

In a public notice, EFL said the rotation plan is intended to provide an equitable distribution of the available supply while teams continue repairs. “This means power will be rotated between areas so that everyone can receive electricity for a period during the day,” the company said, acknowledging the inconvenience faced by households and businesses. EFL urged customers to consult the published load-shedding schedule to plan around the timed outages.

EFL did not name the specific line or give an exact timeline for when full service will be restored, but confirmed crews are working “as quickly and safely as possible” to complete the necessary repairs. The utility stressed that the staged approach allows all customers in the Central Division to receive at least intermittent electricity rather than leaving some areas without supply for prolonged periods.

Under the scheme, the Central Division will be divided into four blocks and power will be rotated among them. EFL said this will enable predictable periods of supply and outage, which the company described as crucial for businesses that rely on scheduled power and for households needing to plan for refrigeration, cooking and other essential needs. Customers were reminded to prepare for the reduced and intermittent supply and to take appropriate safety precautions when using generators or other alternative sources.

The full load-sharing schedule is available on EFL’s official Facebook page, the company said, and customers are being advised to check updates regularly as repair progress may change rotation times. EFL also asked customers to follow the timetable closely to help minimize disruption and to avoid unnecessary strain on the limited supply.

This development comes amid ongoing repair work on critical transmission infrastructure that has so far prevented a full return to normal power supply. By implementing the four-block rotation, EFL aims to strike a balance between continuing essential repairs and ensuring fair access to electricity across the Central Division until the transmission line is fully restored.
