ASPEN Medical has successfully reintroduced endoscopy services at Lautoka Hospital after the acquisition of advanced medical equipment, including a new endoscopy tower and a portable bronchoscope. This restoration of services is particularly significant for the Western Division, as endoscopy procedures play a crucial role in diagnosing various conditions, including ulcers and tumors, thereby enhancing overall patient care.
According to a statement from Aspen Medical, the former endoscopy unit had been largely non-operational since 2019. The new state-of-the-art equipment features a built-in system for automatic cleaning and disinfection, adhering to stringent infection control standards, which increases both safety and efficiency in medical procedures.
Barry Herberts, the Chief Operations Officer, emphasized that the new endoscopy tools are suitable for patients of all ages and will significantly elevate the quality of medical services offered at the hospital. He highlighted that precise examinations will lead to early detection of health issues, facilitating timely treatment and potentially improving patient outcomes. This development is not only expected to enhance patient care but also to decrease the necessity for more drastic surgical interventions.
ASPEN Medical has been managing operations at Lautoka and Ba hospitals since April 2022, and the reinstatement of endoscopy services marks a pivotal advancement in their commitment to improving healthcare in the region.
This initiative is a positive step forward, reflecting a broader commitment to elevating healthcare standards and ensuring access to essential medical services for the community. It is a hopeful development for both healthcare workers and patients, indicating that improvements in technology and care practices are underway.
