Vinaina Marawa aims to leverage the Miss Nasinu Festival as a platform to inspire conversations and empower women to escape the cycle of violence. The 22-year-old from Kadavu, who has personally experienced the harsh realities of domestic violence, is determined to make a meaningful contribution during the event.
“I witnessed my mom in an abusive relationship, and she ultimately left my dad because of that,” Ms. Marawa shared. As the eldest of seven siblings raised by a single mother, she felt a strong sense of responsibility that led her to prioritize work over further education after high school.
Ms. Marawa emphasized that pageantry is not solely about competition among young women, but also about the friendships and bonds created throughout the experience. “I aspire to be a role model not just for my siblings, but for my entire community,” she expressed.
She is one of seven contestants competing for the Miss Vodafone Nasinu Festival 2024 title, which is scheduled to take place from August 24 to August 31.
