Empowering Youth Through Free Education in Fiji!

The Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) is providing valuable training opportunities in Fiji to help young people achieve their career goals and enhance their daily lives. This week, a ceremony was held where 317 students, comprising 181 females and 137 males, received their certificates in Nasinu.

One of the graduates, Jokapeci Mocelutu, emphasized the importance of this training in enabling individuals to access better job prospects. At 26 years old, and a mother from Suvavou, Rewa, Jokapeci expressed that the 12-week course she completed has not only equipped her with skills but also empowered her to improve her job opportunities.

Jokapeci is now certified in aged care services and is planning to seek employment both locally and abroad, as job opportunities have become more challenging due to rising living costs. She shared her experiences of balancing her studies with parenting and expressed eagerness to continue further education should additional training become available.

Another graduate, Sainimere Lewetini, also shared her satisfaction with the training she received. At 26 and hailing from Naweretu, Nakorotubu in Ra, Sainimere completed a Certificate II in Hospitality. She looks forward to applying her skills in Lautoka and praised APTC for their commitment to enhancing the knowledge of residents in Fiji and the broader Pacific region.

Sainimere noted that her training lasted 12 weeks, with three weeks specifically allocated for practical learning at local hotels. She expressed gratitude for her achievements and the support from the program, which she believes will help her secure a better future.

Both graduates encourage others to take advantage of such training opportunities, emphasizing that they are accessible and not costly, providing crucial skills for better employment and livelihoods amidst rising economic challenges.
