Approximately 20 student ambassadors from various parts of the country are set to convene at the Recycling on the Go (ROG) Leadership Forum on Thursday at Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi. This forum aims to provide a space for students to address challenges, share innovative ideas, and enhance their roles as advocates for environmental sustainability and recycling initiatives.

The event is expected to attract young leaders, educators, and key stakeholders, all coming together to inspire collective action, celebrate success stories, and promote a culture of responsibility regarding recycling and waste management.

This year marks the second consecutive partnership between the Pacific Recycling Foundation (PRF) and Tanoa Hotel Group, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in driving grassroots change. Amitesh Deo, founder of PRF, remarked on the forum’s significance: “The Recycling on the Go Leadership Forum represents a bold step toward empowering young Fijians to lead the charge against environmental and social injustices.”

Narend Kumar, area general manager of Tanoa Hotel Group, echoed this sentiment, highlighting their commitment to sustainability: “As a leading advocate for sustainability in the hospitality industry, we recognize the importance of equipping young minds with the tools and confidence to make a difference.”

Deo further emphasized that the forum serves as a platform for students to engage in discussions on environmental injustices and develop actionable solutions to support a circular economy in Fiji. This year’s event will include workshops, breakout sessions, and presentations aimed at fostering networking opportunities, leadership skills, and innovative thinking.

Additionally, the ROG Ambassadors Program, a collaborative initiative by PRF in partnership with Swire Shipping and the Ministry of Education, is being implemented in several educational institutions including Jai Narayan College, Nadi Sangam Primary School, Jasper Williams High School, and Queen Victoria School, further cementing the foundation’s commitment to nurturing future eco-conscious leaders.

In conclusion, the ROG Leadership Forum promises to be a meaningful gathering, fostering empowerment among young advocates in Fiji to not only address environmental challenges but also promote sustainable practices for a brighter future. Through initiatives like these, we can hope for a generation of leaders dedicated to making a substantial difference in their communities and beyond.
