The Waibau Women’s Club, established in 2019, focuses on enhancing the quality of life for women and girls in the Waibau community through sustainable practices and support systems. Under the guidance of Makereta Nofoimuli, the organization’s president, members actively engage in farming initiatives, utilizing leased land to cultivate a variety of vegetables.
Currently, the club comprises 11 members who are dedicated to growing food crops including taro, sweet potatoes, and ginger, with plans to expand into cash crops such as yaqona in the coming years. The land is being used efficiently to provide fresh food for their families, reflecting a strong commitment to transforming their agricultural practices. Their collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry and support from local organizations ensures that they receive the necessary resources and guidance to thrive.
