Empowering Women: The Key to Organizational Success

Emma Low, Managing Director of Westpac Pacific, emphasized the advantages organizations reap when women are given equal opportunities to lead, contribute, and grow. She shared these insights during her recent trip to Fiji.

While in Fiji, Ms. Low discussed the significance of mentorship with the Women of Westpac (WOW) Fiji, a component of a broader employee action group aimed at empowering women across Westpac to achieve their full potential.

“Empowering women in the workplace is not solely a matter of fairness; it is crucial for driving innovation and success,” she stated. “Providing equal opportunities for women to lead, contribute, and grow enhances organizations with diverse perspectives and ideas essential for problem-solving and creativity.”

Ms. Low highlighted that more than 60% of Westpac’s workforce is female, with 40% occupying leadership positions.

Westpac is also proud to be a signatory of the newly launched Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (WE-Fi) Code, which strives to promote financial inclusion and empowerment for female business owners, aligning with the bank’s commitment to supporting education and diversity in the community.

The bank’s dedication to promoting gender equality is showcased through its Women and Girls Education Grant program, active for the past 13 years. Additionally, Westpac’s financial literacy program has educated over 39,000 women in the last decade, and the bank organizes an annual International Women’s Day walk at various locations across the country.
