Empowering Women: The Key to Organizational Success

Westpac Pacific’s Managing Director, Emma Low, emphasized the benefits organizations gain when women are provided with equal opportunities to lead, contribute, and excel. She made these comments during her recent visit to Fiji.

While in Fiji, Ms. Low discussed the significance of mentorship with the Women of Westpac (WOW) Fiji, which is part of a broader employee action group dedicated to helping women within Westpac reach their full potential and thrive.

“Empowering women in the workplace is not solely about fairness; it is essential for fostering innovation and propelling success,” she stated. “Organizations benefit from the diverse perspectives and ideas that women bring, which are critical for effective problem-solving and creativity. This is particularly vital as over 60% of our workforce is female, with 40% in leadership positions.”

Westpac also proudly supports the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (WE-Fi) Code, recently introduced to promote financial inclusion and empower female business owners, further aligning with the bank’s commitment to education and diversity initiatives.

The bank’s dedication to gender equality is reflected in its Women and Girls Education Grant program, active for more than 13 years, and its financial literacy program, which has trained over 39,000 women in the last decade. Additionally, Westpac hosts an annual International Women’s Day walk in various locations across the country each year.
