A new marketplace has been inaugurated for women in Wainayabia, Serua, as part of efforts to empower them economically. The market will officially launch on the upcoming Lotulevu day, presenting a beneficial platform for local women to sell their products.
According to Bulou Luisa Matanisiga, the president and leader of the Wainayabia Women’s Forum, the establishment of this marketplace is aimed at improving the financial stability of women in the area. The initiative aligns with ongoing strategies to address the economic challenges faced by women, ensuring that they gain financially from their entrepreneurial efforts.
Matanisiga expressed delight at the opening of the market, stating, “We are pleased to see this market developing, allowing women to take the lead in showcasing their goods. This new initiative is indeed an exciting step forward for our community.” The Women’s Forum, founded several years ago, has actively supported women’s development and empowerment, particularly focusing on markets since 2008, and currently, 55 women participate in it.
The market will primarily feature goods produced by the women themselves, who have been encouraged to sell various items, including food, crafts, and household products. With the goal of providing a profitable outlet for their creations, the women are equally motivated to share their knowledge and skills with their families and the community.
In conjunction with the market launch, network opportunities will be available for the women, allowing them to learn from other vendors and improve their business prospects further. The initiative aims not just at personal gains but also at helping families enhance their living standards through shared success.
As these women take significant steps towards economic independence, the community is hopeful that their entrepreneurship will inspire future generations. The Wainayabia Women’s Forum exemplifies the power of collaboration and determination in creating lasting change within the community.
