Over 70 women leaders from various sectors gathered for a Women in Corporate Leadership breakfast on Thursday, featuring a visit from Antonia Watson, the Chief Executive Officer of ANZ New Zealand. The event, organized by SALT Incorporated Limited, was themed “Evolution of Leaders” and included Ms. Watson’s remarks on the significance of having clear values as a foundation during challenging leadership situations.
Ana Laqeretabua, principal of SALT Inc, expressed gratitude for Ms. Watson’s presence, highlighting the valuable insights and wisdom shared that could assist women leaders in navigating their challenges. Ms. Watson urged attendees to embrace authenticity, noting that leaders who are relatable and competent earn appreciation.
Rabih Yazbek, ANZ Fiji’s country head, emphasized the bank’s commitment to the community by facilitating the visit of senior executives like Ms. Watson to inspire and support Fiji’s upcoming business leaders. He recognized the importance of these interactions, stating that they enrich the community by allowing access to the experiences and advice of international executives.
Mr. Yazbek also reaffirmed the significance of the connection between ANZ Fiji and New Zealand, mentioning that Ms. Watson’s visit underscores Fiji’s role in ANZ’s expansive international network, which spans 29 countries. After arriving in Suva on Wednesday from Apia, Samoa, Ms. Watson’s engagement reflected the vital relationships ANZ maintains in the Pacific region.
