The Ministry of Women has provided a donation of $5,000 to the Fiji Bulikula Women’s Rugby League Team to aid their preparation for the upcoming 2024 NRL Pacific Championship. Minister Lynda Tabuya highlighted the significance of promoting respectful and healthy relationships in sports as a crucial measure in combating gender-based violence.

“It is essential that we instill in our young athletes the principles of respect, healthy relationships, and integrity, both on and off the field,” she stated. Drawing inspiration from the late South African president Nelson Mandela, who famously said that sports has the power to transform the world, inspire, and unite people, Tabuya expressed her belief that the Fiji Bulikula team would not only represent their country but also become role models for young women throughout Fiji.

She extended her best wishes to the team as they prepare, reminding them that the whole nation stands behind them, ready to support and cheer them on.
