Olivia Cavuka, a prominent businesswoman from Vitogo, Lautoka, shared valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs faced by women in agriculture today. At 58 years old, Cavuka manages her family’s seven-acre farm where they cultivate a variety of crops, ensuring a steady income for her household.
Cavuka highlighted the importance of resilience and hard work, especially after her husband’s passing six years ago, which spurred her to take charge of their agricultural enterprise. With three daughters and two sons, she is committed to providing education and opportunities for her children through the profits generated by their farm.
Operating on a modest plot, Cavuka grows taro and cassava, utilizing one acre specifically for the cultivation of crops.
