Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Unlocking Financial Skills for Success

The Women’s Finance Exchange (WFE) launched its ‘Access to Finance Program’ aimed at equipping local women entrepreneurs with vital financial skills and knowledge. The event, organized by Business Assistance Fiji (BAF), attracted around 40 participants from Suva who are keen to improve their financial literacy.

BAF’s general manager Ramesh Chand expressed gratitude to program partners and emphasized the importance of promoting financial independence and business development among women. He outlined various components of the business industry program, including climate action initiatives, business continuity planning, and health checks, along with multiple training sessions held in different areas.

“We recognized the significance of conducting this training when we were approached to lead it,” Chand noted. He highlighted the program’s focus on finance management, encompassing budgeting, cash flow, and tailored training for women entrepreneurs.

Contributions from Manita Ray, managing director of Capital Human, and Uzma Altaf, a gender specialist at the Asian Development Bank, provided valuable perspectives on gender equality in financial access and the program’s connection to wider development objectives.

The two-day training will delve into financial planning and management, offering sessions on budgeting, cash flow management, financial statement analysis, and exploring financial options with HFC Bank.
