Empowering Women: A New Era in Financial Independence

The Women’s Finance Exchange (WFE) has launched its ‘Access to Finance Program’, aimed at equipping local women entrepreneurs with essential financial skills and knowledge. The event, organized by Business Assistance Fiji (BAF), gathered approximately 40 women from Suva who are eager to improve their financial expertise.

BAF’s general manager, Ramesh Chand, highlighted the importance of the program and its partners, which is designed to promote financial independence and business growth among women. He mentioned various components of the business industry initiative, including climate action sensors, business continuity planning, and business health assessments, along with numerous training sessions covering these areas.

In his address to the attendees, Mr. Chand emphasized the significance of the training. “When we were asked to conduct this training, we realized that it was important. We have provided sessions focused on access to finance, finance management, budgeting, and cash flow, targeting women entrepreneurs specifically,” he stated.

Additionally, Capital Human’s managing director, Manita Ray, and Uzma Altaf, a gender specialist from the Asian Development Bank, shared their insights on gender equality in financial access and how the program aligns with broader developmental objectives.

The two-day training program will concentrate on financial planning, management, and modeling, with sessions covering budgeting, cash flow management, financial statement analysis, and finance options provided by HFC Bank.
