Throughout his visit, Mr. Kamikamica engaged in meaningful discussions with the resort owners, delving into their experiences, the opportunities they have pursued, and the challenges they face in providing authentic Fijian experiences. A particular highlight was Long Beach Hideaway Resort, which has benefited from the Integrated Human Resources Development Programme, enabling improvements in facilities, services, and marketing efforts to reach a larger audience.

The support from the government programs has had a beneficial ripple effect, creating jobs and sustaining livelihoods within the local community while enhancing the visibility of the Yasawas’ stunning natural beauty and rich culture. Mr. Kamikamica praised the co-operative members for their commitment and resilience, affirming the government’s dedication to backing grassroots enterprises that are crucial to Fiji’s economy.

He encouraged the co-operative to continue its collaborative efforts in tackling challenges, while also adopting sustainable practices to safeguard the environment of the Yasawas as they develop their businesses further. This visit underscores the Ministry’s initiative to foster partnerships with micro, small, and medium enterprises, highlighting a collective aim for inclusive and sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
