Empowering Sisterhood: Why Women Must Unite in Support

Assistant Minister for Women, Sashi Kiran, is calling on women to support one another, particularly those who feel vulnerable on social media.

Ms. Kiran emphasized that women often concentrate on each other’s shortcomings, sharing private information intended to remain confidential, which contributes to a cycle of undermining one another.

“Many women express that they don’t feel emotionally supported, which is surprising because there are so many support groups available,” Ms. Kiran stated. She added that when women face problems and share them, there is a fear that their stories will be publicized.

“It’s crucial to respect each other’s privacy so that we can feel secure,” she noted.

Ms. Kiran pointed out that women often dwell on negative interactions. “None of us is perfect. Women face trolling on social media and often it is fellow women who perpetuate this humiliation,” she said.

She urged women to create an environment where they can freely converse without fear of judgment or ridicule. Ms. Kiran encouraged them to unite in praise and genuinely support one another during challenging times.
