The iTaukei Trust Fund Board has allocated $100,000 to support the establishment of two new businesses in Korovou Village, located in the Macuata District. According to Ifereimi Vasu, the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, this funding aims to enhance the living conditions of the local residents.

One of the ventures is a homestay, marking the first of its kind in the Macuata area, which will provide an inviting accommodation option for visitors. The second initiative, a bakery, will ensure that villagers can conveniently purchase bread without the need to travel long distances.

Vasu emphasized the importance of unity within the community, urging residents to collaborate for the success of both businesses. He highlighted that these initiatives have created job opportunities, particularly for the youth, contributing positively to local livelihoods and offering services beneficial to both the Korovou community and the larger Macuata District.

Furthermore, he noted that other villages could also reap the benefits from these ventures, fostering a spirit of cooperation and economic development across the region.

In summary, these new business initiatives not only aim to improve economic conditions in Korovou Village but also represent a community-building effort that can inspire other villages in the region. It’s a hopeful step towards self-sufficiency and enhanced social well-being for the residents.
