The Career Fair serves as a platform not only for exploring various career paths but also for encouraging meaningful discussions between parents and children regarding their aspirations and dreams, according to Assistant Minister Iliesa Vanawalu.
During the inauguration of the two-day Career Fair in Suva, organized by the Outsourcing Industry, Vanawalu emphasized the shift from traditional norms that often see students at home during school holidays to engaging them in valuable work experiences.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to reaching out to all parts of Fiji, ensuring that no aspiring student is overlooked in their pursuit of career opportunities. “Education goes beyond mere knowledge; it is about empowering individuals to realize their full potential, follow their passions, and make a valuable contribution to society,” said Vanawalu.
Moreover, he stressed that education must be integrated with the demands of the industry and foster innovation to adequately prepare graduates for the evolving job market.
Senior Curriculum Advisor for the Career Section at the Ministry of Education, Mr. Lasarusa Rakula, noted that while there are limited job opportunities in Fiji, he encourages students and school leavers to take full advantage of the two-day Career Fair.
Students from across the greater Suva area attended in high numbers, eager to participate in the event organized by the Outsourcing Industry.
In summary, the Career Fair not only opens doors for students to explore various career options but also emphasizes the importance of dialogue between families regarding future aspirations. This initiative is hope-inspiring, as it reflects a commitment to equipping the next generation with the necessary tools to thrive in a rapidly changing workforce.
