The Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) is providing valuable training opportunities in our region, dedicated to helping individuals acquire skills to enhance their job prospects and improve their overall well-being in society.
This past Wednesday, a graduation ceremony took place in Nasinu, where 317 students received their certificates. Among them were 181 women and 137 men.
One of the graduates, Jokapeci Mocelutu, expressed her appreciation for the program. At 26 years old and hailing from Suvavou, Rewa, she is a mother and credited the program with helping her gain skills in aged care. She highlighted that her training lasted only 12 weeks but was intensive, requiring commitment and determination.
“This has been a great program, and it is free, allowing us to enhance our employment opportunities,” Jokapeci stated. She emphasized that the training sessions equipped participants with essential skills to better serve the local community.
Jokapeci’s goal is to secure employment in her field, particularly in aged care, as she noted the challenges in finding jobs locally. She encouraged her peers to consider enrolling in similar programs for better job prospects.
Another graduate, Sainimere Lewetini, shared her positive experience with the APTC, which she said played a significant role in her pursuit of knowledge. At 26 and originating from Naweretu, Nakorotubu in Ra, she received her Certificate II in Hospitality.
Sainimere noted that this was her first formal training opportunity, which lasted 12 weeks, including three weeks of practical training at local hotels. She expressed her gratitude to God for the skills gained and her aspiration to find work in the hospitality industry.
She advised others to take advantage of free training opportunities like the APTC, which can lead to improved living standards. Sainimere reinforced that effective use of education can pave the way for promising career paths, benefiting communities and individuals facing economic difficulties today.
